Ngoài mùa sinh sản, chim có mày trắng không điển hình, cổ trắng, thân trên màu xám với nhiều sọc tối màu, ngực trên xám nhạt hơn với nhiều sọc đậm, rất nhiều đốm xám thên ngực và sườn, chân ngắn màu đen.

In non-breeding season, it has indistinct white supercilium and white throat, grey upperparts with dark shaft-streaks, pale greyish upper-breast with dark streaks, grey spots on sides of breast and upper flanks, and shortish dark legs,
