Khướu mỏ dẹt đầu xám là loài có kích thước trung bình trong nhóm khướu mỏ dẹt (khoảng 15 cm). Chim có lông từ trán đến gáy màu đen, lông mày trắng, mảng đen sát tai, mỏ vàng lớn nổi bật, thân trên màu nâu hạt dẻ sáng và thân dưới màu trắng. Chim trống và mái giống nhau.

Description:

Black-crowned parrotbill is medium sized species in parrotbill group (khoảng 15 cm). It has black forehead to nape black, whitish supercilium, blackish ear-coverts, distinctive deep-based yellowish bill, rufous-chestnut upperparts and white underparts. Male and female are similar.
