Le nâu là loài có kích thước nhỏ trong nhóm Vịt (khoảng 40 cm). Chim có đỉnh đầu tối màu, sọc đậm giữa gáy, cổ tương đối dài, bộ lông đồng màu nâu với lông bao đuôi trên màu đỏ hạt dẻ nổi bật. Chim trống và mái giống nhau.

Description:

Lesser whistling duck is a small species in the whistling-duck group (about 40cm). It has dark cap, slightly darker streak in center of nape, fairly long neck and relatively dull, plain plumage with distinctive reddish-chestnut uppertail-coverts. Male and female are similar.
