Phường chèo xám nhỏ có thân trên màu nâu đen, phần hậu môn trắng, mỏ và chân đen. Chim tương tự như phường chèo xám nhưng có viền lông cánh nhạt màu hơn và đuôi ngắn hơn. Phường chèo xám nhỏ mái có vành mắt trắng và sọc tối màu ở phần thân dưới thay vì màu xám ở con trống.

Description:

Indochinese cuckooshrike has blackish grey upper parts, white vent, black bills and legs. It is similar to the black winged cuckooshrike but it has more pronounce pale wing-fringing and less graduated tail. The female distinguished from the male as it has broken whitish eyering and dark and pale on under-part instead of grey under-part of the male.
