Hút mật bụng hung có kích thước trung bình trong họ hút mật (khoảng 10 cm). Chim trống và chim mái rất khác nhau. Chim trống có đầu và thân trên xanh óng đậm, mảng tai màu nâu ruby, cổ họng và ngực trên màu nâu đậm và thân dưới màu vàng. Chim mái có thân trên màu xanh olive và thân dưới màu vàng giống chim trống.

Description:

Ruby-cheeked sunbird is small sized bird in sunbird family (about 10 cm). Male and female are different. Male has distinctive iridescent dark green head and upperparts, copper-red ear-coverts, dark rufous throat and upper breast, and yellow underparts. Female has green-olive upperparts and yellow below as the male.
